The dos and don’ts on the dance floor for ballroom dancers

So you want to learn quickstep dancing but you are a beginner. You have to take time to go to dance class of Quickstep Montclair. In this way, you will get more supportive atmosphere than trying with yourself on the living room. This is also easier for the beginner and slow-paced dancers. But in the dance floor, you should consider some important things that you should follow and not especially if you are a beginner.

Dos in ballroom dancing
1. Put on close-toed shoes: You should wear the shoes that are close-toed and don’t wear sandals or flip-flops that may disturb your dancing. The close-toed dance shoes keep your toes intact on your moves. Shoes are the most important wardrobe of dancing.

2. Dance inside the circle: If you are a beginner, it is more beneficial to dance inside the circle so that you can learn dancing from slow pace. The dancers who dance outside the circle generally perform fast-paced dance moves. The experienced couples dance faster on the dance floor, mostly couple dances like cha-cha and continental cowboy.

3. Perform the dance which is called by the DJ: If you wish to perform any other dance style, then dance off the main dance floor. This is because it may cause confusion among other dancers if you dance any other style on the main dance floor. Sometimes, dancing other style than what the DJ calls can be harmful. Other dancer may tend to hit you or you may run over someone by mistake which may ruin your performance.

4. Rotate your partner: Dancing is a fantastic way to make new friends by dancing with others and accepting requests to dance. In this way, you can become a good and flexible dancer by doing different moves with different dancers. For guys especially, thank her gently for dancing with you. Though she isn’t a good dancer according to you, help her gain confidence by appreciating her.

Don’ts in dancing
1. If you are not dancing yet, don’t stand on the floor: The dance floor is the area which is covered by the wooden platform and located just in front of the DJ booth. Since there are lots of people who want to dance on that floor and they need extra space for it, please give them this courtesy. You can find other space on the studio where you can stand and talk with others.

2. If you are not comfortable with the dance style, then don’t dance: Doing different steps on the music of other dance can ruin others or there is a high risk of running into someone if you are not aware about the actual dance.

Conclusion
In the dance class of progressive two-step Montclair, don’t perform different style which is not called by the DJ over there. So, it would be best to be comfortable with the dance style you are familiar of. In the initial stage, you can become master in your style if the instructor is good for you.
